Suburban One Power Wissahickon took on Ches-Mont league power Downingtown East under the lights at Wissahickon for a boys lacrosse playoff game with a quarterfinal berth on the line. Wissahickon was looking to avenge a defeat from Downingtown East exactly two weeks ago to the day. Downingtown East jumped out to a 1-0 lead and that was their final lead of the night as Jackson Intrieri ripped a rocket shot to tie it at 1 apiece then Intrieri followed it up with a nice post up move to put the Trojans up 2-1. Matt Fritz won the ensuing faceoff and raced down the field to make it 3-1 Trojans at the end of the first quarter. Dean Wolfe scored the next goal for the Trojans putting the home team up 4-2. DTE answered back with one of their own to make it 4-2 only to see EJ Schreiner rip the back of the net to make it 5-2 Trojans at the break. The Trojans started the third quarter with Jackson Intrieri ripping a laser shot off a feed from Kyle Lehman to make it 6-2 Trojans. Dean Wolfe scored the next goal off a feed from Intrieri to make it 7-2 then Andrew Slackman scored a nice goal off a feed from Lehman to put the Trojans up 8-2. The game looked well in hand but Downingtown East did not give up scoring the next three goals to make it 8-5. The Trojans were feisty all night and with 6.5 seconds remaining in the third quarter Andrew Slackman ran down a ground ball and hit Intrieri who plastered a shot in the back of the net to end the quarter with the Trojans up 9-5. Downingtown East was not done yet again as they scored the next 3 goals to make it 9-8 with 3:12 left in regulation. That's when Matt Fritz with ice water in his veins came up big winning the faceoff and Brody Meyers ripped a goal to put the Trojans up 10-8 with 2:59 on the clock. A determined Fritz won the last faceoff of the game and the Trojans ran out the clock and are moving on to the quarterfinal round to face Radnor. Scott Pfeiffer was awesome in goal with 11 saves and the defense was solid all night led by Jake Licata, Quinn Fonash, Ethan Glass, Joey Connolly and Alex Solomon.
